IF YOU WERE YOUR OWN JUDGE

“Even when we look at them, we see their beauty, innocence, and will to live. We enslave, torment, exploit and slaughter them. Factory farming or not, using animals as a source of profit is the biggest failure in human mankind.”Human Cruelties | animal photographer, pig farm (2020)⁣

If you were your own judge how would you judge yourself based on the actions you inflict on others for a short sensual pleasure? ⁣

It is an absolute mystery to me how people who are confronted (almost daily) with the issue of animal rights and animal freedom and are held accountable can still support these atrocities. ⁣

The human brain, as complex and developed as it is, is a master at ignoring facts and pushing away feelings and emotions instead of confronting them. I get it, it’s more comfortable this way. But what about the victims?⁣

I can not understand that people think that what is done to animals is so horrific and unethical, but do not have a strong will and urge immediately to do everything in their power to no longer be part of this animal exploitation and murder.⁣

It is not enough to look at photos and videos and be sad. It must be followed by action. This requires self-criticism that we have most likely never undergone in our lives.⁣

I always like to explain it like this: ⁣

Imagine you are in a courtroom and you are your own judge. You show yourself all the cruelties that you, as the defendant, are doing to the animals through your own actions. Are you aware of your actions and the consequences to others? Will you admit your ignorance or mistakes? What will you do? Will you act?⁣

If you are your own judge, would you want the defendant to continue to inflict suffering on innocent others or will you stand up on behalf of the victims? ⁣

Let me tell you something.⁣

It takes great courage to reflect on your own actions. It takes great courage to say you were wrong. It takes great courage to go against the norm. And it takes great courage to be a better version of yourself when everyone expects you to do what you've always done.⁣

Be courageous, but even more be perceptive and act! You need to do better than the society you grow up in.⁣
