“HOP HOP”

“Hop hop”, were the last words that led them to their murder. [TW: distressing footage on the shown pages and caption]

It makes me sick, physically and mentally sick, to hear the slaughterhouse owner say the words “hop hop” (see slide 3, soon to be online) to these pigs and lead them into a segregated area of the holding area where other activists and I had been bearing witness to these pigs only minutes before.

A few minutes after they were electrocuted, their throats were slit and their bodies were loaded into a furnace that burned away their hair. The individuals we just sat with and documented their pain and suffering were then hung on hooks, their stomachs cut open and their guts removed. The imagination is unreal.

Nobody who buys meat at a supermarket EVER thinks about the individuals who were killed for their short sensual pleasure. Never. I know that because I didn’t either. If I had thought of the victims of my conditioned choices, I would never have been able to buy their hacked-up bodies, consume them, and confidently look myself in the mirror with the feeling that I was a good person.

It is not normal, humane, acceptable, or in any way justifiable to do this to other sentient beings. It is sick. It is sick that it is so normalized, so unseen, and so ignored. It is unbelievable that so many do not know the truth yet or push it away to keep on chewing on their body parts to keep on going with their lives while others suffer in farms and slaughterhouses.

What kind of world are we living in? What does this say about us?

Yes, conditioning is strong, and growing up in a society that falsely tells and manipulates you that eating animals and their secretions is completely normal and necessary. But it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to do better! Especially now that you know. How can you look at them and know and still pay for their death?

✏️ The comments are from an online discussion I recently had.
📷 I took these photos on July 1st, 2019 when activists and I were given legal access to a small local Lower Austrian slaughterhouse. According to the owner “the best way of getting killed they can possibly get”.

Now you are the judge of your own actions.
