INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHTS DAY
Today (December 10th) is International Animal Rights Day.
On this day, animal rights activists, animal protection associations, and animal rights organizations around the world draw special attention to the respect and just, loving, and compassionate treatment of non-human animals.
In 1998, animal rights activists first demanded that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights needs to be extended to non-human animals by the UN General Assembly, on the condition that all sentient beings have the right not to suffer pain and not to be killed by human hands. Since animals cannot vote, protest or lobby on their own behalf, these tasks must be done by humans.
What can you actively do for animals and their rights right now? Choose an ethical vegan way of thinking and living and become active for the animals by educating other people about the abuses in the animal industry and encouraging others to see the victims of their choices and to live vegan.
You can be active online, by sharing your own content or the educational content or graphic footage of other accounts. You can have live streams, interviews, podcasts, a blog, presentations (at school, university, or work), or use your social media to speak up!
You can also attend animal rights demonstrations, marches, street actions, or vigils in front of a slaughterhouse to build bridges for others to see the animals’ suffering, pain, and injustice. Cook vegan food with not-yet-vegans and plan on watching an animal rights documentary together (suggestions on my website). You can do sticker activism, snow activism, chalk activism, and much more.
There are many forms of speaking up, the important thing is that you do! Hold others accountable! Have discussions! Do something - anything!
Together with and for the animals!
Animal liberation NOW!
