TIME FLIES …
… and at the same time, it seems our little adopted vegan nugget, Sems, has always been with us—in our lives and hearts.
I cannot imagine my life without her anymore. She is my sunshine on rainy days and all the other days. When I look at her I feel unconditional love, no matter how many of my socks and underwear she has already creatively and successfully destroyed (on a positive note, she definitely showed me that I don’t need that many).
When I look at her I can see what is truly important to me and that I am safe. That happiness and safety she gives me, I wish to give her every single day of her life to the fullest.
The progress she made over the past two years is absolutely incredible and with progress, I mean embracing who she is as a person at heart. We are happy she is confident and happy to show herself to us and slowly but surely to others—other non-humans and humans—too.
Sems taught us so much. We learned that caring for someone else takes time and that there is no “given normal period” for that. It takes patience, mindfulness, and lots of observation and reading each other and it needs a will and commitment to learn from and with each other every single day.
We did make mistakes and still face experiences we learn from and we are thankful for that. And Sems? She sometimes does things she knows too well she’s not supposed to do. 🧦
Gosh, I love her so much for all she is, and each day I love her even more.
❗️ Every year, 300,000 animals are dropped off at shelters. Please know that there are so many dogs and other animal companions in shelters waiting for their forever home where they can grow through love, patience, and the attention and care they all deserve.
❗️ Don’t buy/shop from breeders! For every animal someone buys from a breeder, one stays at the shelter. Animals are not objects, commodities, and accessories. All breeders have a financial intention. After all, it is a business, no matter what “reasons/intentions” they pretend to have and try to talk you into their “professional approach/work”. Do not support the(ir) pet business!
