PROTECT DUCKS
If you ask people if they like ducks, many would say that seeing them gives them a sense of joy. Watching them interact and take care of each other fills them with excitement and happiness.
Ducks are incredibly interesting non-human animals and very intelligent and social individuals, each with their own characteristics and distinct needs. They understand commands, play with toys, play games, give kisses and beg for cuddles like other birds if given the attention and space to develop their personality (for example when growing up in sanctuaries).
It is more commonly known that when baby ducklings hatch they perceive the first person they see as their mother. This intuition is usually used to deny them intelligence. But the ability to memorize things gives them a remarkable capacity for abstract thought, often associated only with primates and other animals considered highly intelligent.
However, regardless of the intelligence of a living being, all sentient individuals have a right to their life and to live it freely, unharmed, and in safety. Do you agree?
It is simply wrong to lock these innocent individuals in filthy pens, breed them for human profit and benefit, and kill them against their will. Do you still agree?
Humans like to soothe their conscience by telling lies about organic and free-range farming and using them as arguments to show “respect” for animals. However, respect and killing are mutually exclusive.
If you care about animals and respect their existence, you need to go vegan, which means rethinking your values and acting accordingly. ➸ kerstinbrueller.com/sources
