“IF YOU WISH THAT THERE ARE NO MORE PETS, YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE THEM AT ALL”
Not adopting them is not a solution. The breeding must stop!
The pet industry is a huge industry fueled by people’s unethical conditioned views and demands for a pet “to be owned.” But few have ever consciously thought about what it means to buy baby animals from their so-called and self-claimed “trustworthy and responsible” breeders.
Spoiler alert, there are no responsible breeders. Breeders aren’t interested in the well-being of the animals, they see a business opportunity, and here is why:
The pet industry works like any other industry, namely supply and demand. Animals are socially disdained to such a degree that people do not see the injustice and cruelty behind their purchases.
Even though most buyers have no evil intentions but lack knowledge and aren’t aware that they are supporting. Female animals are mostly forced to become pregnant. This often involves buying “the service” or sperm of male animals of the same breed (collected using digital pressure and massage). When the babies reach a certain age (usually when they are weaned) which is legally designated, they are taken away from the mother and sold to people to take over the “new purchased parenthood.”
Breeders charge money for “taking care of the babies” during the first weeks. They give the impression of taking on a responsible task to make their “good intention of breed preservation” credible, while in reality they are concerned with making money by selling lives as if they were selling goods. Yet breeding results in millions of animals being in shelters, neglected or killed in killing facilities.
EVERY ANIMAL BRED, IS A SHELTER ANIMAL DEAD!
The biggest problem is the lack of knowledge, speciesism, apathy towards other species, and an anthropocentric approach to life!
We have to take care of the existing life on this planet instead of breeding new life into existence. If at some point this should lead to the extinction of certain breeds, then so be it. They bear the consequences that humans have imposed on them anyway and further will impose on them to be how they want them to be.
