BEAGLES FOR ANIMAL TESTING

Did you know that beagles are still used for animal testing and experiments? (TW: Animal Cruelty and Violence on Animals)⁣

Dogs are among the most beloved species and are still called “a human’s best friend”, especially in some parts of the world. Some of us live with them as companions (always adopt, never shop!), care for them, and would do anything to protect them. They are equal family members to so many.

But not many of us know that dogs are still favored species in toxicology studies. They are born in lonely cages and forced to endure excruciating experiments done on them against their will. They suffer terrible mental and physical consequences, including premature death from stress, anxiety, and physical fractures.

In these toxicology studies, large doses of a test substance (a pharmaceutical, industrial chemical, pesticide, or household product) are pumped into animals' bodies, slowly poisoning them. Out of all the dogs used for research purposes, the breed on top of the list is beagles.

But why Beagles?
The reason Beagles are used in such a big quantity is because of their size. They are not too small and they aren’t big and hard to handle. They are equally trusting and loyal, and easy to manipulate. And these characteristics will be their death, exploited and betrayed by humans in the name of “science,” “safety” and “education.”

These sentient individuals don’t have a choice. They never had. They have always been meant to be test objects. Most of them will never know the outsides of testing facilities and laboratory rooms until we stand up and speak out against this unbearable injustice and start demanding animal-free testing methods and experiments!
